Cruet Set
A matching silver-plated cruet set presented in a leather box with silk interior. Both have "C" shaped rope design handles and cross and leaf engravings on cups with simple circular bases.
These pair of silver vessels used to hold wine or water for the Eucharist and were intended for religious ceremonies and come in pairs one to contain water, often marked A for Aqua one to contain wine, V for Vinum. These two liquids are mixed during the section of the Mass known as the Preparation of the Gifts.
Cruets are small containers for wine and water, to be used during the celebration of mass. Bought by the church with funds donated by Mary Browne.
